Recognizing both the power of recommendation and the well-established role of online research in the decision to purchase a new vehicle, Infiniti has become the first automotive company to provide consumer-generated reviews and ratings for its products on the brand’s website.

Visitors to www.InfinitiUSA.com can read reviews from Infiniti owners. 900 reviews on seven different vehicles are currently available, and reviews will be continuously added as the brand solicits them through ongoing communication with its owners. In early 2011, Infiniti will allow owners to submit reviews directly from InfinitiUSA.com.

“The Infiniti ownership experience extends well beyond the driving experience of our owners and into their lifestyle, which includes peer-to-peer and social media channels,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “Providing the forum for Infiniti owners to share their experience with others who are researching and considering an Infiniti is a natural extension for us of the total ownership experience. In addition to providing consumer-generated content on its website, the Infiniti brand is active in many social media channels because Infiniti desires to connect with owners and allow them to connect with each other. Infiniti’s partner in adding the owner-generated content to its website is Bazaarvoice.

The 2011 Nissan Quest, which arrived at Nissan retailers nationwide last week, launches today with a 360-degree media campaign anchored by a new 30-second television spot titled “Errands.” The all-new Quest is a boldly styled minivan designed to make life as a parent a little easier and put Nissan squarely back into the heart of the minivan market. The campaign also includes digital advertising, print, social and an iAd.

The television spot shows how the Quest helps a mom manage her hectic lifestyle with one-touch technology, permanent rear storage and an Advanced Climate Control System that works to detect and block outside odors while helping to reduce unwanted odors inside the spacious Quest interior. The commercial was created by TBWA Chiat/Day and features the popular song “Mama Said” by Beverly Lee, Doris Coley Jackson and Addie “Micki” Harris. It is scheduled to run on national and cable broadcast networks throughout February, as well as in select online environments.

Nissan has also entered into a partnership with a new Disney animated film, “Mars Needs Moms,” which premiers in early March. Smyrna facility to be one of the largest electric vehicle battery plants in the U.S. -
Construction is progressing on Nissan’s manufacturing facility in Smyrna, Tenn., which will produce lithium-ion batteries to power the Nissan LEAF zero-emission vehicle. The all-electric Nissan LEAF will be produced at Nissan’s vehicle assembly facility in Smyrna beginning in late 2012.
The foundation is laid, structure being erected and roof being installed on the vehicle battery manufacturing plant, which will be one of the largest in the country at full capacity of 1.3 million square feet. The plant will be capable of producing 200,000 advanced-technology batteries annually. It is located adjacent to Nissan’s vehicle assembly plant, which is being retooled to accommodate production of Nissan LEAF and will be capable of producing 150,000 electric cars annually. Combined, Nissan LEAF and battery production will create up to 1,300 U.S. manufacturing jobs when the plants are operating at full capacity.
“Nissan is making significant strides to be one of the largest producers of electric vehicles and batteries in the United States,” said Carlos Tavares, Chairman, Nissan Americas. “We applaud President Obama’s goal of bringing 1 million electric vehicles to U.S. roads by 2015 and look forward to doing our part to ensure that many of those vehicles, and the batteries that power them, are built in the United States.”
Combined, the construction of the battery plant and modification of the Smyrna manufacturing facility represent an investment of up to $1.7 billion. The project initially is being supported by a U.S. Department of Energy loan for 80 percent of that investment, up to $1.4 billion.
The loan was issued as part of the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program, a $25 billion program authorized by Congress as part of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The program is designed to accelerate the development of vehicles and technologies that increase U.S. energy independence, create cleaner means of transportation and stimulate the American economy.
Sales of the Nissan LEAF – the world’s first all-electric, zero-emission vehicle available for the mass market – began in select markets in the United States in December 2010. It will be available nationwide in 2012, when production expands to the Tennessee facility. The Nissan LEAF initially is being produced in Oppama, Japan, and will be equipped with lithium-ion batteries being produced in Zama, Japan. The Renault-Nissan Alliance also will produce lithium-ion batteries in Cacia, Portugal, and Sunderland, UK, as well as in Renault’s Flins plant in France.
In North America, Nissan’s operations include automotive styling, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing. Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors to Expand Scope of Cooperation

- Expansion of current OEM projects into study on overseas co-production, mini car in Japan -

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announced that the two companies agreed to expand their current scope of cooperation towards new projects that will further strengthen mutual competitiveness, especially in the Japanese mini car and global commercial vehicle businesses.

Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors currently have several OEM agreements for vehicles in the Japanese market, including for mini cars and commercial vehicles. In addition to expanding the scope of the current OEM partnership, the two companies agreed to study new opportunities which would generate additional synergies. The cooperation agreement between Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors will be complementary to any agreements the two parties have already established with other partners.

Regarding the expansion of the OEM partnership, the following have been agreed:

  • Nissan to provide a light van/wagon to Mitsubishi Motors for the Japanese domestic market
  • Mitsubishi Motors to provide an SUV to Nissan for markets in the Middle East

Discussions are ongoing for Nissan to provide Mitsubishi Motors with upper-end segment models for the Japanese domestic market.

Regarding new opportunities, two projects are currently under study:

  • The manufacture of the current generation of Nissan Navara pickup truck at Mitsubishi Motors’ plant in Thailand. Longer-term, the two companies are evaluating manufacturing and engineering collaboration of a new generation one-ton pickup truck.
  • Establishment of a 50:50 joint venture for product planning and engineering of mini cars for the Japanese domestic market.

Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said “This agreement is important for Nissan as it supports our expansion in emerging markets, meets immediate capacity needs overseas, and enables us to grow our mini car business in Japan. Our relationship with Mitsubishi demonstrates the ability of the Renault-Nissan Alliance - with its network of global partnerships - to constantly evolve and create new win-win relationships with other companies in function of specific needs and shared objectives”.

Mitsubishi Motors President Osamu Masuko said “Amid the drastically changing economic and market environments, Mitsubishi Motors is in partnership with PSA Peugeot Citroën in the areas of SUVs and EVs, and is always searching for other optimal solutions suited for each area of our business. This agreement to expand our business cooperation with Nissan is founded on our good business relationship since 2003, through several OEM agreements of mini cars and commercial vehicles. I believe that the expansion of our OEM agreement will complement each others’ regional characteristics and product lineup, and the one-ton pickup and mini car projects will be the best solution to strengthen each others’ competitiveness”.

Exterior Styling That Stands Out In Class
The Altima Sedan received a number of significant refinements just last year – including a restyled hood, grille, front bumper and aluminum-alloy wheel designs. These changes added a greater visual volume to the front end, especially the hood. The changes also provide greater differentiation between the Altima Sedan and Altima Coupe.
